Black Sabbath - Paranoid

Sometimes whilst on the endless quest for the heaviest, or the craziest - the boundary pushing or just the downright bizarre, it can be easy to overlook those gems that are often dangling right in your face. Black Sabbath's Paranoid is a brilliant example of this, as when I spun it randomly whilst driving home from work recently, I was took by the realisation of just how much I love this band. I will avoid a track by track analysis for one of metal's most legendary albums, but will quickly point out that Paranoid catches a band that were in their prime. Everything about this is just magical; the stars aligned and some prime blues-tinted heavy rock was put to tape.

The riff at the end of "Iron Man" has to be one of the greatest things ever written, as is the entirety of "Electric Funeral".
